On 13th May 2010 in Valmiera 15 development and marketing specialists, businesses, reserchers and students from Vidzeme university college met in the workshop to discuss the regional branding issues and concepts for creating new narratives and stories.

After the administrative reform in Latvia for newly established municipalites is very important to understand and create their identity , marketing materials to attract inhabitants, tourists and investments to the places. Participants in brainstorming selected the key topics for marketing of municipalities, discussed the strengths , weeknesses and development opportunities of Vidzeme. The student of Vidzeme university college Krista Liepkāja presented her research work how young people see an image of Vidzeme. Many of them think that Vidzeme is good place to live, work and have a good education. Participants of workshop suggested to work on this research deeper by involving more schools and youth to get the comprehensive results on issues related attractiveness and image of Vidzeme.

The Project coordinator Rita Merca introduced the Trans in Form project and planned activities . Workshop participants actively discussed and decided to meet more often to develop the best highlights and stories from 26 municipalities in Vidzeme. The issue of Vidzeme regional branding is more complicated because it is difficult to define the borders of Vidzeme region . The regional reform is not developed yet in Latvia.

The next local workshop will take place in September.
