Trans in Form project had an official kick-off in February. Participants were introduced to the main project ideas and activities. After the opening three methodology workshops followed. The first one introduced to the 4th project work package “New narratives and story telling”. The event was meant for learning about what the new narratives are about, how to work with it and how can it be useful for project cities and regions. Event participants were seeking to find new narratives that would work for a change of their places that can strengthen the branding of their rural cities and regions. As the outcome of the workshop toolbox for new narratives and story telling were elaborated. It will be a guide for participants to use when they work on it at their local workshops in the coming milestones. The toolbox is a document created by a joint cooperation of 11 partners and external experts and is available to use for the European community.
The second methodology workshop covered the 3rd work package on Regional Planning and Benchmarking Attractiveness. Joint international team of experts on city planning, innovative architecture and attractiveness shared the main guiding advices and ideas. In addition, there were a number of examples coming from various places in the Baltic Sea Region. Project participants were taken to see practically implemented cases. Methodologies for scenario planning were provided and it explained how such kind of workshops should be organized, how big it should be, what kind of people have to be involved and other important details. From all the information collected the set of guidelines for scenario planning were elaborated and are ready for the participants and all the outsiders to exploit.
One more introduction event to a work package 5 was on “Investments and interactive public spaces”. A list of valuable checklist was elaborated on what are the mains steps to make and main things to think about when trying to create an attractive public space. This part of the project was closely connected to the two previous work packages. The methodology, the checklist and other valuable information are available on the project website. After getting acquainted with the theory, participants started to get into closer cooperation with several selected TiF partners who will attend their local workshops. In such case all the local actions will gain an international aspect and value. In addition small local kick-offs took place at each partner in order to inform local society and target groups about Trans in From benefits. All the actions implemented raised the awareness of a challenge to keep the rural areas in the BSR attractive to citizens and visitors. Participants were encouraged to take part in a change and improvements and were provided with helpful tools.
