Joniskis is one of many towns and regions in Lithuania which are facing big challenges within fileds like employment, migration and birth rate. The authorities are working with projects and are looking into ways of making their region more attarctive for investments and settlements.
Rasa Alisauskiene introduced the reconstruction project of the Red Synagogue and guided the group through a town walk and showed the two syngagoges in the field. Chief Architect Daiva Bickiene informed about the plans for transformation of Joniskis public spaces design for leisure, recreation and urban needs. That also became the introduction to the group work where two groups discussed the two main squares of Joniskis. Presentations in plenary brought several ideas of making the places more vibrant and attractive.

On the second day of the workshop the partcipants visited the old settlement of Zagare and the Zagare Regional Park which are recreation areas bordering Latvia.

The workshop was concluded by a visit to the Joniskis Basketball Museum.
