Joniškis contributes with sport exhibition and invites to the next TiF workshop

EuroBasket kick-off in Lithuania

Joniskis - European Championship Basketball_560x403
On 31th of August the European Basketball Championship, universally referred to as EuroBasket 2011, kicked off in Lithuania. This international event means a lot to most of the Lithuanian people – some even say basketball is the second religion in the country. On this occasion a Basketball Museum was opened in Joniškis.

With larger premises and more exhibits related to the sport activities the museum shows photographs, medals, personal items from leading players, cups, documents and so on. Of course basketball fans, who came from all European countries to support their teams, are welcome to take a tour and have a look at the exhibition.

If you ask Joniskis’ citizens to associate their city they will undoubtedly respond: the Basketball Museum. During the Championship the flags of the countries whose teams are playing will be raised. So every day you will see different flags wafting at the municipality building of Joniškis. Besides that Joniškis residents and guests can come together to watch basketball games on TV in the local entertainment centre „Zilvinas“, discuss the latest championship news or just enjoy and support their favourite teams.

Currently, our city is alive. Citizens feel the exiting mood that was broad to Lithuania with the European Championship and every day they become more open and friendly.

This is now but we also have to prepare for the future to keep the city alive and to turn Joniškis permanently into an attractive place to live at. Let’s work on this together and join us for the next TiF workshop "Looking to the future of our region" from 6th to 7th of October in Joniškis. We are looking forward to see you.

Register now and fill up the form below. Registration ends on 15th of September.

Given the fact that the city does not have enough accommodation establishments in town each project partner will receive information about accommodation after registration is finished. For those who arrive by plane, please fly to Riga airport (Latvia).
