Belorussia is located in Eastern Europe. Landscape is generally flat covered with forests, numerous rivers and lakes. Climate is transitional between maritime and continental with mild and humid winters and warm summers.

Belarus is called the country of lakes - there are approximately 11 000 lakes in the republic. Forests cover about 2 / 5 of the country. Here, relatively a few large forested areas (the largest are - Nalibokskaya and Belovezhskaya Pushcha). Describing the landscape of Belarus, the swamps, which are unique ecosystem, should be mentioned. The territories of the marshes are inhabited by a large amount of species of birds and animals listed in the Red book. The real pearl of Belarus are chic Parks: "Belovezhskaya Pushcha, Pripyatskiy" Braslav Lakes Berezinski and biosphere reserve.

Everybody calls Belorussia “Blue Lakes country”, but it also can be described as a monument of architecture. Ancient monasteries and temples have stood up to the present days. St. Sophia Cathedral and Space - Orthodox monastery in Polotsk, or Borisoglebsk church in Grodno, Ishkoldi’s Trinity Church, the church-fortresses in the villages and Synkovichy Murovanka, the Nikol'skii monastery ensemble in Mogilev, and locks in World Lide, and many others.

The monumental complex “Hatin "- the most sacred place for each Belarussian. The Nazis burned this small village along with all of its residents (149 people, including 75 children) 22 March 1943. Now there is a memorial which depicts the sole survivor of Jozef Kaminskiy, and a "Memory Wall" - a list of Nazi concentration camps in Belarus and their victims with a memorial plate and Eternal flame.


The City of Minsk

Minsk is the capital of the Republic of Belarus. It is located in a picturesque place on the river Svisloch, which was in ancient times one of the busiest trade-routes connecting the Baltic and the Black seas. Minsk is the city where one can find the best pieces of Belarusian cultural heritage: museums and exhibitions, theatres, world famous Belarusian ballet, folklore dancing ensembles and choirs. Numerous scientific centers and leading institutions of higher education, situated in Minsk, are well-known abroad for their fundamental and applied researches. Minsk is a cross-road of the most popular European tours. It is connected by motorways, railways and airlines with all the European capitals and also with the main cities of the world.
